Overview
Bamtec is the most sophisticated slab reinforcement system available today and has already helped to accelerate programmes and reduce costs on many sites throughout the British Isles and worldwide.
Because the Bamtec system combines finite element analysis, integrated detailing software and robotic manufacturing, it is the only system that can provide finite element prefabricated reinforcement, where every bar in a carpet can be varied by both diameter and length to closely follow the design model contour requirements. This results in material savings of typically between 15 – 25% compared to cut & bent reinforcement.
The reinforcing bars within each carpet can be of varying diameters (from 10mm to 32 mm), varying lengths and at varying centres to suit the slab design. This allows Bamtec to deal with variable load requirements, non-rectangular slabs incorporating curves / splays etc are easily pre-built into the carpet during manufacture, so no sorting of graded bars is required. Slab openings over 300mm are also ‘built in’ to the carpets during manufacture
Bamtec carpets are delivered to site in widths of up to 15 metres and rollout distances of up to 25 metres. The carpets are delivered pre slung to facilitate fast site off loading and movement and once positioned are simply and easily rolled out. A Bamtec carpet will typically be taken from stockpile to fully installed in max 15 minutes. This carpet can typically weight between 0.8 and 1.5 tonnes (depending on slab configuration & bar diameters) and will be rolled out by a maximum of 4 men. Therefore in 1 hour typically between 3.2 and 6 tonnes of Bamtec can be installed by max 4 men reducing fixing costs by up to 75% compared to conventional loose bar.”
Benefits
The benefits of this unique, patented system are . . .
- Savings in reinforcement content of slabs, typically between 15 - 25%
- Full design, detailing and scheduling service for entire slab including Bamtec and associated loose bars
- Programme acceleration and security. Minimum programme saving around two-thirds of the time compared to installing loose bar in the same slab.
- Programme acceleration and security. Average programme saving around two-thirds of the time compared to installing loose bar in the same slab.
- Health & Safety benefits including reductions in RSI and reductions in back injuries
- Elimination of site errors and wastage
- Reduced requirement for checking insitu fixed material
- Deskilling of site installation
- Bamtec is cost neutral when compared to a loose bar installation plus the other benefits that Bamtec can offer!
